About The Maison

A living collection with a long horizon

The Maison Luxembourgeoise des Instruments d'Exception stands at the meeting point of cultural heritage, musical excellence and responsible long-term stewardship. Based in Luxembourg and connected to an international network of musicians, experts and institutions, the Maison brings exceptional stringed instruments into active cultural life.

Its evolving collection includes violins, violas, cellos and bows by distinguished European makers. Every acquisition begins with careful examination of authenticity, provenance, condition, craftsmanship and tonal potential. But the work does not end with ownership: an instrument's story continues through care, research, performance and transmission.

Our conviction

Exceptional instruments were made to resonate. When they are stored away, an essential part of their identity remains unheard. The Maison therefore develops selected artistic collaborations by invitation and integrates approved instruments into concerts, exhibitions, recordings and educational projects.

This approach turns preservation into participation. It safeguards the physical object while allowing its artistic and cultural value to remain alive.

Our approach

Select

We identify instruments of artistic, historical and patrimonial significance through specialist networks and disciplined examination.

Preserve

We support expert documentation, conservation, maintenance and restoration with respect for the maker's original work.

Place

Through invitation and trusted professional or institutional recommendations, we seek the right relationship between artist and instrument, considering sound, repertoire, career stage and long-term fit.

Share

We create opportunities for audiences and institutions to encounter these instruments through performance, exhibition and education.

Luxembourg as a home

Luxembourg offers the Maison a distinctive setting: international, multilingual and deeply connected to both culture and finance. From this base, the Maison builds bridges across Europe between private stewardship, public culture and musical excellence.
